chia seed jam

Ingredients

2 cups frozen or fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or a mix)

1 tbsp maple syrup or honey (optional)

2 tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp lemon juice

pinch of salt

optional: vanilla extract or cinnamon

Instructions

1. Add berries to a saucepan over medium heat.

2. Cook for about 5–8 minutes until the fruit breaks down and becomes juicy.

3. Mash lightly with a fork or potato masher depending on how chunky you like it.

4. Stir in lemon juice, salt, and sweetener if using.

5. Remove from heat and stir in chia seeds.

6. Let sit 10–15 minutes to thicken.

7. Store in a jar in the fridge (it thickens more as it cools).

Extra Tips

For every:

  • 1 cup fruit → 1 tbsp chia seeds

Flavor Variations

  • Strawberry vanilla → add 1 tsp vanilla

  • Blueberry lemon → extra lemon zest

  • Raspberry rose → tiny splash rose water

  • Mixed berry cinnamon → cozy and great for fall

  • Cherry almond → almond extract + cherries

  • swirled into Greek yogurt

  • on whole grain toast

  • mixed into overnight oats

  • on cottage cheese

  • with nut butter

  • spoon over regular pancakes or German pancakes
