chocolate cake
Ingredients
Batter
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup cocoa powder
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup avocado oil
6 tbsp apple sauce
2 tbsp white vinegar
Frosting
1 cup butter, softened
2/3 cocoa powder
6 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
2. In a mixing bowl combine flour, cocoa, white sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add milk, vanilla, oil, applesauce and vinegar, whisking until no big lumps remain.
4. Divide batter evenly between two 8” round cake pans.
5. Bake for 30 minutes.
6. Let cool.
7. Prepare frosting by creaming together butter and cocoa powder.
8. Alternate adding 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1 tbsp of cream blending on high for one minute.
9. Add vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt and combine.
10. Adjust consistency with more powdered sugar for a thicker frosting or more cream to thin.
11. Once cake is completely cool, frost and enjoy!
